source sdk base 2006

I was going to try a mod I found that requires sources sdk 2006 but everytime I run sdk hl2.exe stops working and the program has to close. so far I have defraged and verified the files and nothing seem to work. I also have sdk 2007 and it works just fine. ps I have tried to delete the local files on steam but it say I cant be case there being use by sdk 2007. any Idea of what I should do would be helpful

Do you have the required game installed in your library? There are mods who won't work without a special game, such as HL2:EP1 or EP2.

the problem is not the mod it is sdk 2006 srry for the confusion but basicly sdk crashes hl2.exe when I run it. thats what I want to fix

And you've installed the mod into your sourcemods folder? Do you see the mod in your steam games list? What happens when you run the mod?

well I have all the mod files in sourcemods but I cant sdk 2006 to run so when it starts up hl2.exe stops working. The same thing happens to mod as well.

you don't need to run sdk base, but if the mod it's self crashes then I'm not sure, sorry, try googling it and see if anyone else has the issues

well the mod says it runs on sdk06 and when I run them both they crash in the same way,so thats why I think its related to sdk

update: I have uninstalled and reinstalled sdk 2006 and 2007, and 2006 still doesn't work I am now starting to think that sdk 2006 was broken do to an update or it is not compatible with windows 7. but there just my guesses for why it doesn't work.

Post Auto-Merged: January 24, 2013, 01:17:03 AMupdate I found out that everytime sdk base crashes it makes a dump file and I found I could look at it by lunching the game in text only mode. this is what it says each time in the dump http://i.imgur.com/7hDdnJ5.jpg  I have no clue what it means of course ,but if any of you do I would like to read about it.

update:steam has answered my support ticket that I sent to them. If what they tell me helps me with sdk06 I will post the solution to my problem here.
