rap isnt all about that. when you rap you can tell a story or talk about a subject that you feel needs to be expressed. look at taylor swift, she does the same thing but in a different "style".



listen to this song in its entirety, pay close attention to the lyrics. it tells a story, at first when i listened to it i was like wow, thats crazy. fake or not, people still read fiction books and love them.

just like every other genre of music. i can't really think of a single genre where people don't complain about their lives, brag about their money, etc. the later you see in rap more but it isn't exclusive to the genre, and if you really don't like it then there's tons of rap that has nothing to do with it

I don't listen to rap all that much, but I'm not about to jump on the "Retards Attempting Poetry" bandwagon as there are good artists in the genre, same as in rock.  I refuse to call people like Kanye West and Lil Wayne "rappers".  They deserve the title "pop entertainers" because that is exactly who they are.  Here's a selection that I rather like:
