You're asking the wrong question, first of all. Half Life 2 RP isn't about weapons, items, upgrades, or gaining anything materialistic. Its about immersion and creating an experience for yourself. Its not about getting guns and killing people, robbing people for more money in game, or anything like that. Guns are monitored closely on the server, and aren't just handed out, for the reasons I've described above. Most people who have them in the city server right now either applied to have an authorization to own them, or were found capable of properly roleplaying with a gun after getting their character moved from the Outlands to the City server.

So basically, don't go around trying to get a gun, or anything materialistic for that matter. Just roleplay and enjoy your experience and perhaps something like that will cross your path some day, although its not very likely. If you can't roleplay on our servers without guns, then I'm afraid you're in the wrong place. Also, please don't join the city server or outlands server for that matter, and ask people where you can get a gun. Its highly frowned upon for the reasons I've described.

Oh of course, I wasnt looking for one for any of those reasons. I was just wondering how he got it and if he got it if it was possible for me to get one. Not sure what I would do with it but would be nice to know none the less.

Chances are, if you saw this citizen with the SMG out, I know who it is and they've already lost it due to their misuse of it. When citizens get a weapon, they may not intend to use it for their own personal gain at first, but 95% of those who get their hands on a gun in the city fall victim to the temptation of lolrobbing people for tokens, using their guns to force people to cyber/rapeRP, abducting and killing people for no real RP reason other than to do it, to attack and attempt to kill units, etc. As Kom said, don't expect to ever get your hands on a gun in the city without and authorization application and even still, don't get your hopes up.

Also, a word of advice, if you're ever given the option of obtaining a gun ICly without applying for having it, or in some way getting admin approval of having it, don't take the gun. Logs of everything you can possibly imagine are stored and checked just about daily by our administration team. If you get a weapon without applying for it or getting admin approval of it first, we'll find out eventually and you won't like the outcome.

It's extremely hard to recieve a gun in the city, I'd imagine it would be way easier to retrieve one in the Outlands, since the city is tightly controlled by the Civil Protection. Guns are good and all, but people tend to miss-use them.
