Map editing
«

I am trying to edit a zwonder_ops map for my friends and I to play on. I am not the creator of these maps, nor do I intend to upload the edited map to the toybox. I simply want to... reverse engineer it. I'm new to mapping and I want to know how it works. If anyone else has this map this will be good (its kinda like five from black ops zombies.) I searched in every spot in my garry's mod game files and I can't find it. If anyone can help me out, it will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advanced.

You mean you want to decompile the .bsp file into a .vmf file?
If you have the map on Garry's mod, it's in your steamdir/USERNAME/garrysmod/garrysmod/maps There you will find the .bsp file.
You will need the .vmf file to open it in hammer.
I'm not going to tell you how to decompile maps because this is a breach of copyrighted stuff, or at least you shouldn't be doing that unless you made the map yourself.
Google is your best friend though.

Learning to map is a big thing for anyone. Take your time and try to look up good videos.

If you want to edit a map, contact the Creator of the map, that is the best way to get the .vmf of the map, and anything else you need.
Also, its a courtesy to the map-maker when someone asks for their work, instead of just screwing with it and trying edit their work without their permission.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that if you choose to decompile a .bsp, you have a BIG chance you screw something up and break the map. Hence you really should ask the original creator of the map for the original .vmf file.

Ok thanks guys will do. And btw I don't plan on uploading it to... anywhere. It's just going to be between my friends and I.
