1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.I think my backstory will do a better job at this than I can, but anyways- My character is someone who believes in a government that protects its citizens from harm, and does all that it can to take care of them, including stuff like medical needs, food and shelter- things necessary for an individual to survive. Because of this belief, he feels that the Combine conquering Earth was one of the best things to ever happen to humanity. He thinks that the civil government the Combine have set up is far more efficient and effective than that of the world leaders who preceded the invasion. As a utilitarian, these facts about the Universal Union have a immense effect on Oliver's opinion of it.
Having found himself a cause he considers noble enough to dedicate himself to, Oliver finds it rewarding to do things such as community service. He can often be found turning in resistance propaganda, or reporting malignant or unlawful activity. When he has nothing in particular to do, he does things such as picking up trash, raking the leaves from around the plaza monument, or organizing his belongings. Though many view the new world as a dystopia, to Oliver it is completely opposite. He enjoys being a part of the collective, and puts its greater good before all else.
To Oliver, joining the CCA seems the next logical step. It would allow him to practice medicine and healing people who deserve it, and would give him the authority to take criminals off of the streets on the behalf of the Combine. It would allow him to continue to serve the collective at a now greater extend than just doing random tasks. Spurred by the reward of his loyalist status, Oliver hopes to begin the next chapter of his life.
2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)Oliver is a very thoughtful and cautious person. He prides himself on being rational and realistic, but can be dedicated to a cause he believes in.
3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.Well, I'm someone hoping to eventually join the NOVA division of the CCA. I'm hoping that the CCA will be a good chance for me to combine passive and active roleplay. I'm very much interested in medical RP, and have tried it on Fallout RP. However, I have always loved HL2RP more, so I hope it will be even better here.
As for my character, as you'll see in his backstory, this sort of path would suit him perfectly. He is someone who supports the rigidness of the Combine-ruled society, and hopes to help out people at every turn. He finds the prospect of community service rewarding, and has had many good experiences with it. He takes pride in things such as cleaning up the city or reporting contraband, or malignant citizens. By joining the CCA, he hopes to continue this experience.
4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.Growing up in a household where the news was regularly on, Oliver was reared by politically active parents. As such, he himself became politically active, and very much interested in society as a whole. Engaging in debate club at high school, he formed very rigid ideas about his ideal society, one where members relied heavily on themselves and no one else. Oliver believed individualism had the potential to solve the world's problems.
While still firm in his ideology, during college, Oliver found himself with an urge to go out and do good, charitable deeds. Regardless of whatever he might do with his life, he decided that should he contribute in some way, his life would have been put to good use. This line of thought extrapolated itself, and Oliver decided to become someone who studied medicine. He figured if he could save life, no one could doubt the goodness of him, unlike a field like business or politics.
Now a member of his university's socialist group, Oliver's prayers were answered when the aliens invaded. He watched as the warmongers of the past were wiped out or stripped from power, to be replaced with the highly efficient Combine. Under them, community service was highly rewarded, and criminals were sentenced to justice. As a civil government was formed, Oliver felt a strong urge to do his part, and at every opportunity aided the Combine. As he received his loyalist status, he beamed from ear to ear, knowing that as soon as he got back to his apartment he would fill out his application to the CCA, ready for the next step of his service. He would join the CCA, and put himself on the front line, fighting criminals and keeping them off the streets, as well as healing and hopefully saving the lives of the innocent.
