Can anybody explain to me why people listen to screamo?

I mean, it's not that I hate it or anything, just me and none of my friends can understand why people listen to it. Most screamo songs, you can't even understand a word of the screaming and growling. Anyone care to explain why people like it?

I like it because quite often there will be guitar, and double bass on the drums involved.

It's for the same reason you listen to [insert genre]. You can perfectly understand them, once you get used to it. Just like you understand opera, renaissance, rap all in time. Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean its bad. Cept country, they just suck.

I personally, don't listen to heavy screamos, but some are damn nice together with melodic singing.

I don't mind the music, but the artist himself makes me want to punch a brink whenever he speaks. His voice is the toughest auditory torture you will ever have to endure..
