Lisa Olivia Oliver's Civil Authority Application

OOC Name: Fansastick

IC Character Name: Lisa Olivia Oliver

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Lisa Oliver mainly wants to join the CCA because she is tired of her boring old life. She believes that joining the CCA will give her a life-changing thrill. She could also be described as a little power hungry, because she likes to command other people. She is also curious of the average day in the life of a unit, such as how their normal day goes. She also hates being pushed around by her peers, so joining the CCA to her, is a chance to push others around…

What lead her to wanting to join is mainly her persistent searching of a thrill. She was enjoying her normal life, as someone nobody knew, but then she began to snitch about illegal activities, which gained her loyalist status. After becoming a loyalist, she decided that having an armband wasn’t enough.. Something was missing, but she couldn’t put her finger on it, but maybe it was just power. She was also told by another loyalist about how interesting it could be, as a CCA. That, and all her other thoughts, is what pushed her into looking into joining the CCA.

More in-depth situation also caused her to want to join. Such as when she was once attacked in Sector6, she was helpless then, could be hurt by anyone, but not as a CCA unit. Another situation was when a person she knew was in trouble, and she couldn’t do anything, that too, could’ve been stopped by her if she was feared, and powerful, like a CCA unit. What swayed her, or maybe even drove her to apply to join the CCA, is because she craves power, and despises being pushed around by her fellow citizens.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
Lisa could be described as a quiet person. She could also be named a very trustworthy, and rule following person. She keeps her thoughts to herself, but she is not afraid to speak her mind if needed. She is very lawful, which is why she is a trusted loyalist.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
For me it would be an awesome experience. I have been MPF/CCA/etc on many other servers, but I think it’d be pretty interesting to see how my experience goes on this server. It would be an eye-opening experience, because I would see how other people Roleplay, and react, to me as a CCA. Also because whenever I roleplayed as a unit, I always had a great time. I also want to have the same great times on this server.

She is already loyal, so it wouldn’t be much of a personality change. Her place in the world would definitely change, possibly change drastically. She wouldn’t be the one pushed around anymore, and she could be the one giving orders. For her to be recognized by her superiors is what she dreams it’ll be like. Her life experience would change if she ever became a CCA. Lisa’s attitude would change forever, even before she becomes brainwashed.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
Lisa Olivia Oliver, or known by some as Olivia, was born in a small town somewhere in the United States. She was born to a loving mother and father, and 2 older brothers, and 1 sister. You could say she was the odd one out in the family. Her family members were all social spotlights, but she never had any real friends.

In grade school she had only one friend, they spent all their days together, they could’ve been called inseparable… In junior high, her friend moved to another state, Lisa was devastated, but she forced herself to quickly get over it. She was a loner in her school, she didn’t talk to anybody, and nobody talked to her. In high school she became noticed by few, because she was one of the best players on the Volleyball team. Still she didn’t have any friends, she sometimes thought to herself that having no friends was good, because it improved her grades not having to worry and think about someone else.

She has just completed her second year of college, gaining her associate's degree in Real Estate. She has decided to not continue with her major, and take a leave from school for a year.  During that year she just dwelled in her home all day, not really socializing.

Later that year… Storms started raging across the planet, strange creatures were seen being transported out of the portals, wreaking havoc everywhere. Lisa and many other in her area were rushed to safety shelters, few shelters could hold out the alien creatures. Unfortunately, her shelter was one of the ones that just couldn’t hold out. During the invasion, a different alien race started to invade; they were more organized, like a full army. They began to drop towering buildings onto the surface, and they slaughtered innocent children and pregnant women. Earth tried to defend itself, but the forces from the portal were too strong, before Lisa even knew it, her planet had just been taken over by a strange alien race

After being tested and broken down by the combine alien race, she is transferred to what the aliens call District 11….

In city11, she resurfaces, as a do-gooder trying to make her life left on this planet a good one. In city 11 she still never talked to anyone, that problem was beginning to become a bother for her, how could she be successful is she couldn’t talk to anyone. Lisa’s presence in City Eleven was short, and nothing really memorable for her….

About a year later…

She is in City 45, the reason is unknown to her why she isn't in City 11 anymore, but it doesn't bother her... In City 45 her life reaches a new height... She had reported multiple crimes in City 45, which seem to happen a lot. In that time she also begins to open up to others, communicating more, maybe a vow to herself made her do this, or more chances in city 45, but she was going somewhere.  She eventually gained 5 loyalist points, to which she was congratulated by a unit, and handed her loyalist armband, which gave her the status of being a loyalist. Later that same week, she obtained her permit to start a business.

About a month later, still in City 45. Lisa has been loyalist for about 2 months now. She has reported multiple crimes, and she is a well known loyalist. She decides she wants to be more beneficial to the union.. So she applied for the Civil Workers Union, she tries her best on her application. A few weeks after she submits her application, she is accepted for an interview. The interview was short and easy for her, as she was accepted into the Workers Unions, she gained a jacket, and armband, and a flashlight.

Her back story ends here, at the present time, where she is trying to apply to join the CCA

(IC PART)
Name: Lisa Oliver
Citizen identification(CID): 62984
Age: 27

Why do you want to join the CWU?: I 'd like to help our area become a better place, if that means selling general goods to our citizens, then I'll do that. If thats means cleaning up stains, then that will have to be done also. The reason I'd like to join the Civil Workers Union is because I love to help people, and assist the Universal Union
Have you ever been detained before?: No.
Past experience with work/labor: Before in City 11, I cleaned up some trash, but I didn't ask for recognition for it. In terms of helping, I have reported several crimes in our area.
What will you do for us?: I'd rather not repeat the same things I said twice, but I will assist the Union. In ways such as general businesses, medical assisting, and cleaning.
How long have you been in City45?: I was recently sent here from City11, I am not sure why. But it has been about two weeks.
Can CWU members be in possession of health kits: Yes.
Can CWU members be in possession of zipties: No.
If a citizen runs up to you and asks for help regarding UPA explain in detail what you would do.: Gladly listen to the person's questions, and answer them to the best of my abilities. Also I'd tell them that running is a Level 3 offense, and that he/she should be more careful with running.
Any disabilities?: No.
Why do you want to be in the CWU?: Because I want to help keep our society today in check. In such ways as starting a business that sells everyday items a person would need. Also to keep the piece, and keep our area clean.

Why do you want to be accepted into the CWU?: Mainly to develop my character more. Also because the amount of new Roleplay doors can be opened by being included in a faction.
Character Backstory(Must be one paragraph):
Lisa Olivia Oliver, or known by some as Olivia, was born in a small town somewhere in the United States. She was born to a loving mother and father, and 2 older brothers. You could say she was the odd one out in the family. Her family members were all social spotlights, but she never had any real friends. Skipping ahead a few years, she has just complete her second year of college, gaining her associate's degree in Real Estate. She has decided to not continue with her major, and take a leave from school for a year.

That year.... Was the year the Combine race invaded. She was of the few amount of people who just gave up immediately, with no fight. For that, she wasn't killed, unlike the majority of humans on the planet. Not much is known about her from the time of the invasion until her time in City 11..

She re-surfaces in City11, as a do-gooder trying to make her life left on this planet a good one. In City 11 she gained 1 loyalist point for reporting a minor theft, in the slums section of the city.

Skipping ahead again about a year.

She is in City 45, the reason is unknown to her why she isn't in City 11 anymore, but it doesn't bother her... In City 45 her life reaches a new height..  Her backstory ends here, at the present time, where she is trying to become a full CWU member, instead of just a loyalist.

Half-Life 2 Roleplay / Re: Lolwebulz!! LOL!
« on: October 19, 2011, 07:22:39 AM »
But I like having a constructive argument with you Yankee because your one of the few who actually know somewhat of what they are talking about.

D'aww, thx xD

The ability to willy nilly cart this shit into the city is near impossible in itself.

Yes, that's a very good point. Perhaps it is truly impossible to get contraband into the city. If so, do the groups have any alternatives? Let's not forget, the city used to be one of the largest urban population centers on earth. Would it be so far of a stretch to allow groups to obtain their contraband from inside the city? And when I say contraband, I'm talking food, water, maybe some bandages and paracetamol. Small time stuff. I don't know about you, but I think those sort of items could be fairly commonly found in abandoned cellars, ruined warehouses, secret stashes, and the like. Maybe this theory is too far-fetched; what do you think?

How the hell are they going to enough food/supply's to supply the city let alone a district?

The groups don't necessarily need to supply the entire district, just certain people. The people they help could be random, they could be carefully picked... The point is, a resistance group in the city is not obligated to help everybody. They help as many or as few people as they see fit. It's up to them to judge who to help, as well as factors such as when, where, and why. The penalty for bad decisions is the lolwebul label.

Even if they start small, it's going to be detected ICly.

Again, this depends on the how skilled the group is at working under-the-radar. I believe the best way to go about distributing things is to distribute them face-to-face with people who have been deliberately selected. Bottles and garbage should be disposed of properly; e.g. hidden.

Uhh, what else... choose the people very carefully. Persons with Loyalist bands are obvious no-no's. If you approach a loyalist with contraband, you deserve to be permabanned on grounds of sheer stupidity. Don't pick people who sound talkative, don't pick people who are obviously bad RPers. This basically comes down to common sense, as well as your ability to read people (or more accurately, their characters).

Another factor to consider is location. Don't do your deal in a place where people frequently travel. A good example of this is, well, any place that's not locked. Always do your deal in a locked room. It ensures nobody will walk in on you. Make sure nobody can hear you. Whisper. Make sure nobody sees you both enter at the same time, it sometimes attracts attention. And please don't make the mistake of leaving together. Don't mark dumbass symbols on your door or on yourself, even if it's "ICly hidden." The key is to be as inconspicuous as fucking possible, both in OOC or IC. Don't brag about the shit you do ICly, OOCly, or even in PMs.

When distributing contraband, there are a few other points that any half-brained resistance member will observe.
       - Only carry as much contraband as you need. Walking around with bottles of water or bandages in your pockets is a catastrophe just waiting to happen. All it takes is an ill-timed community inspection, a troll with a request device, or a wrong look at an officer, and bam: your black market days are over. The same goes for your "client" or "mark," but there are essential precautions that can minimize damage done by captured witnesses.

       - Always use an IC disguise. Wrap a shirt around your face or something, anything to hide distinguishing physical characteristics about yourself. If your character does not talk for the duration of the distribution, then by all means temporarily remove the bit about the low, gravelly Southern accent. Why? It's distinctive and will help the CCA immensely in identifying you. If the characters with you will not hear your voice, they should not have a right to instinctively know what it sounds like. Remove any part of your physical description that your client is unable to observe.
       - And do not, under any circumstances, give anybody your real name (or let them recognize you). If the CCA catches wind of your operation (and it will no matter how hard you try to keep it a secret), they need two main pieces of information to find you. The first is your physical description. Officers will likely spam the radios for BOLs of your physical description over the radio, in the event that a unit actually sees you walking down the street or something. The second bit of information they need is your name, so they can mark up your database profile with "wanted- detain on sight" and similar shit. The other piece information they may have/want is your location. This is easy to counter. Move out of your apartment, stay in some obscure-but-legal area of town. And again, make sure you've ditched all illegal items in case you actually are restrained and searched.

If the CCA has an accurate physical description of you, officers can "wall" you for looking like the BOL, then use your name-linked profile to confirm your identity. Then it's curtains for you and your resistance. But remember, they cannot do this if they have an inaccurate physical description of you and a false/no name.

Hopefully, these tips will help aspiring resistance players stay out of the CCA's spotlight. It's all about discretion and taking steps to control who knows what about you.

Resistance RP is so hard with 20% of citizens being new player, and like 70% trying to get loyalist points all the time..

This is bullshit though. For example, People with vests are called lolwebels too and yet if they have earned that vest then they are probably ten times better a rper than you, So also i have never really seen propaganda apart from in D6 area which is where most rebels hide anyway, If thats the way they want to rp let them. But i agree a bit sometimes people just mingerun and stuff not to be pked, But that is the one persons problem not the whole organisation.

If you know you're not a minge, then don't let it bother you so much.

When I think of "Lolwebulz" (I dont use that term) I think of the news(maybe minges) who feel like as soon as they join a server they need to start up a resistance and get guns and weapons. I don't really know anything about "Red union" but when I see random citizens who are supposed to be malnourished and a bit afraid of the CCA, walking up to the SeC and throwing a rock at him, it's a bit ridiculous.

So I made this guide about a year ago for an old HL2RP community, so if some of the rules in this guide don't apply to this community, please tell me what I need to change.

I.First!
First, make sure you have read and understand This guide.
If you have, then you are ready to roleplay in a certain faction!

II.What is a loyalist?
Now lets resort to the dictionary!
Quote
–noun
1.a person who is loyal;  a supporter of the sovereign or of the existing government, especially in time of revolt.
That definition certainly fits a "Loyalist" in the Half Life 2 Universe. Our loyalist is a character that remains loyal to the CCA, opposite of the Resistance who aim to revolt against the Combine rule.

As a loyalist, you aim to spread the word of the Combine. That could mean sending out flyers, or speaking publicly.
When you refer to yourself as a loyalist, this means 99% of every action you do is to help the Combine. Actions like the ones stated below help your chances of becoming a loyalist. Remember, being loyal does not means you need a armband, or even be recognized![/I]

III.How do I become a Loyalist???
Becoming a Loyalist, in my opinion, is one of the easiest things you can do.
Simple things like turning in contraband, or reporting anti-civil behavior makes the CCA recognize you as a loyal citizen. Giving hints to Resistance Hideouts, and even member locations can make you greatly recognized. In short words, to become a loyalist, do things the combine like. Like using the paper item to make propaganda. Just remember not to do anything classified as anti-civil!

IV. What do I get for being a loyalist?

Most people will tell you, being a loyalist is not all about getting tokens and winning the game, and that it what I am telling you also. You can be a loyalist just for the satisfaction of developing your character.
The CCA still see you as malignant. If you are classified as loyalist, and you are doing anti-civil activities, most Metropolice wont hesitate to fire at you. So being a loyalist does not mean you are above the rules. When you turn in contraband, the rewards you usually get are points for you, or even just a good job. If you contribute a lot to the CCA, you may get a reward of extra rations, or maybe tokens. As stated before, don't really expect anything, besides recognition. But if you work hard enough as a known loyalist, you have a chance of working for the Universal Union....

V. Who should I avoid?
The obvious, avoid shady people. Avoid Resistance members. And you should REALLY avoid [slash]webuls[/slash] rebels. Those above people, really despise you. Some of them have so much hatred for your kind, they are even willing to kill one of you. That is one of the prices to pay for being loyal to the Combine, people will want to get in your way. But could you really blame them?

V.5. Who should I associate with?
CCA.
The CCA are you friends! They protect you from baddies. They give you food, shelter, and rationing. They are the main ones you should be associating with. On the occasion if you can meet another loyalist, you can talk to them and even group with them, but remember who you are dealing with, and don't accidentally get into trouble.

VI. Closing
Thank you for reading this guide to being a Loyalist! Sorry for some mistakes, if any, this is my first guide. Hope this helps you on your way to becoming a loyalist!
