Albert Forkalis's Civil Authority ApplicationOOC Name: [DG:CO] ?Bender?
IC Character Name: Albert Forkalis
1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.Albert basically to have a better quality of life, and maybe some power or at least the illusion of power. All his life, Albert disregarded the laws of wherever he lived and did as he pleased. This caused Albert to constantly live in dread and fear as he did in Prison, and he saw no plausible ways out. Albert knew the UU was going to be a permanent fixture, and realized rebellion was not an option, for the UU was way to powerful.
Albert constantly felt watched, and hated the feeling. The Combine Civil Authority seemed like a logical way out, after all, to the citizens, they get to do whatever they want, Albert saw this as a way out. The only thing stopping Albert was the having to be in the presence of Civil Protection units, to Albert, they were an icon of fear and Albert did everything in his power to avoid them. The thought of having to be around them at all times disgusted him, and made the thought of enlisting near impossible, but he thought and thought about it, and at the end of the day, the chance at a better life seemed to outweigh him having to be around Civil Protection, after all, he'd probably get used to it.
Albert just couldn't bring himself to go and sign up, he hated being close to Civil Protection, and hated the idea of going inside the dreaded Nexus almost as much as he hated being around Civil Protection. The thought was constantly on Albert's mind, he was angry at himself, a better life was literally down the road, but he did not want to put himself through being around Units.
I am not completely sure whether on not all applicants get in ICly or they have to wait for their denied/accepted status IC like we have to, so I am going to continue writing assuming you have to wait for your acceptance both IC as well as OOC.
Albert finally did it, he applied, more or less out of nowhere. Albert was truly shocked at what he forced himself to do, and even more surprised at where he got the courage. The reality had set in, he just sold his life to the Combine, he lives solely for them and will follow orders given even if it means serious injury or death. Albert sat on his bed, mentally preparing himself for life in the CCA, vigilantly awaiting news on his acceptance into the CCA.
2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)Intelligent, Quick Witted and Honest.
3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character. It will be a shock, life in City Forty Five has conditioned him to take the worst and deal with it, but he is only human, and finds it very, very hard to find the will to live in such a dystopian world. Albert had heard the rumors about the CCA, that they execute noneffective recruits, use harsh chemicals to control the minds of their units, preform lobotomies on defiant units to make them more docile, and other gruesome, albeit far fetched horror stories about life in the Combine Civil Authority. Albert wanted a better quality of life more than anything, and was willing to sacrifice a lot to get it. To Albert, he saw the Civil Protection as the cause of his low quality of life, but he also believed the Civil Protection got more things than Citizens, physical things like excess food and money.
Albert did not like the idea of being around Civil Protection at all times, and he hated feeling watched, but he feels that the reward is worth the pain. Albert will acclimate to life, but it will be difficult. In the past two years, Albert has been used to living in constant surveillance, with prison then life in a combine occupied world, but the negative feelings that come with that never completely fade, and although he will be given more by the UU, many negative aspects from Citizen life will follow him into CCA life, like the Surveillance, the rationed food, the strict rules, and the lack of choice. All in all, it will be a great challenge for Albert, but he will acclimate and deal with it.
Me, OOCLY, have been in the CCA before so it will be nothing new to me, but my old character was very developed and I look forward to starting over again as an RCT, which will allow me to develop my unit all over again, along with all of the other perks that come with Character Development and dat' delicious RP.
4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.Albert Forkalis was devastated and displaced during and after the Seven Hour War. When Albert Forkalis arrived in City Forty Five, Albert was shocked at the low quality of life that seemed to plague each and every citizen in the entire city. Albert always enjoyed the more clandestine parts of pre-war society, specifically the criminal ones.
Born June thirteenth, 1994, in a small town in eastern Germany, Albert got involved with crime at an early age.
When Albert was fifteen, he got involved in the underground world of Narcotics. Albert wasn't a big time dealer, but he made his mark on the town he came from. Albert got a handful of people in his town hooked on opium based drugs from the middle east. Albert had a decent stream of money by the time he was nineteen, this allowed him to afford a Car, which is a luxury many local youth could not afford. Albert became one of the more well known people in his area, everybody knew his name. Albert spent his excess money on things he used to occupy time, alcohol, prostitutes, light drugs and whatever deviant bit of crime he decided to kill a few hours with. The local law wasn't too fond of Albert, but most of them were paid off by Albert, which allowed him to do business in the light of day. When he was Twenty, Albert's suppliers who funneled his town with drugs decided to cut their connection with him because he was getting too much attention, this caused a chain reaction which resulted in the local law enforcement to no longer be bribed by him. Albert was detained and sentenced to eight years in prison for contraband distribution. Albert was truly devastated and saddened by this.
The year is 2015, and Albert had served almost a year in a prison located in the German countryside. Albert hated incarceration, everything about it irked him, the smell, the solitude, the people, the color of the walls, the food, the guards, the toilets, the bars, the windows. Not a day went by Albert didn't consider cutting a screw's throat and raping it's twitching body just for the change of pace. Albert was never a big guy, and was constantly getting shit for it. Albert had been beaten brutally on almost a weekly basis, usually just for glancing at the wrong guy. Weeks go by into the new year, months, even, that's when it happened. The power went out and the guards tried to herd all of the inmates into a single cell block. There was one error, the cell gates were no longer locked. Crowds of ecstatic inmates poured out through the front door and into the surrounding wilderness. Albert did not stick around either. The seemingly endless woods made Albert's head spin, Albert was lost, and he knew if he didn't find shelter soon, he'd die. Weeks went by, and Albert was barely surviving on the wild animals he ate, his clothes smelled of sweat and urine, his hair was coated in a thick layer of grease, and his feet were swollen and waterlogged. Albert accepted his fate, and decided he'd hang himself from a tree with a rope he'd fashion with his clothes that night. The sun dipped below the horizon as Albert prayed to whatever Deity would let him pass into the afterlife. Albert took off his shirt and began twisting it into a makeshift rope, but then he noticed the wonderful view of the stars. Albert sat on the forest floor, looking up at the stars, the sight was magical. Out of nowhere, a green worm like construct zoomed over the forest, it was the loudest thing Albert had heard in weeks. Albert dropped his shirt and observed the aircraft, upon closer examination, he saw that it was not something humans manufactured, it was biological looking.
Albert desperately ran after it, but his meager speed was nowhere as fast the being zooming above him. The construct was long gone, but Albert kept walking, his feet bleeding and aching, but he kept walking, hoping to find it again. Albert had not noticed, but he stumbled into a train station in the countryside. Albert had not even noticed, but he gave his eyes time to adjust to the darkness. Albert saw that the lights were off, which is strange for a train station. Albert realized how long it had been since he escaped from prison, while he was calculating what day it might be, a splitting pain hit him in the back of the head and he fell to unconsciousness.
Life shot back into Albert, as he began to sluggishly open his eyes. It was bright, but things were still blurry. Shapes began to form, he could make out a man in Black standing in front of him, very close, only about a foot from his legs. Albert thought the man was very tall until he noticed he was sitting, and his hands were tied. Albert's eyes were now fully focused, and looking at the man in black, detail was starting to register in Albert's mind. The man was wearing a white gas mask and was holding a sub-machine gun. The gas mas man looked down at Albert and tossed a small pack on his bare chest. The gas mask man left from Albert's view, who's eyes were still fixed on where the man was standing a second ago. Albert moved his head and saw that he was on a train, with other bound people. The gas mask man was handing packages to everyone in the train car. The gas mask man finished giving everyone packages and stood in the doorway to the next car, focusing on the aisle that separated the rows. Albert's body ached from weeks of running, and wanted nothing but to sleep. What seems like hours pass, the train comes to a complete stop, Albert is shocked wide awake. The gas mask man instructed everybody to get up out of their seats and stand single file, Albert did as told. Packages fell to the ground as people stood up, the Gas Mask man went down the aisle slitting the rope that bound their wrists. Albert bent down to pick up his package, it was about four pounds and very dense, it felt like plastic but had a rubber quality to it. The package was airtight and had a grey-blue color to it. The train car's door opened and the Gas Mask man motioned everybody out. Albert jumped down and inspected his surroundings, other displaced, dirty, smelly people surrounded him, all rushing to the doors, some of them tried to break the glass on the doors. Albert saw multiple gas mask men rushing toward the crowd, guns at the ready. Shots were fired into the air by the gas mask men. When the fire subsided, people backed away from the door and put their hands up. The doors opened automatically, people poured out and rushed into the town. Albert looked upon the metropolitan skyline and walked into the Plaza. Albert sat on the sidewalk and opened his package. The scent of rubber spewed out of it, he peered in and saw a plastic I.D card, dorm keys, two denim pants, two denim shirts and a can of water. Albert removed his card and viewed the information issued to him.
The current year is 2016 and Albert has almost fully acclimated to life in City Forty Five. Albert was in better condition than most Citizens in the City, he had a decent amount of tokens and a UCH apartment. Albert was fairly content with his life, but he still felt like he was prison, and his every action was being watched. There were days when Albert would just stay in his UCH apartment, just because he didn't want to be watched by Civil Protection.
Albert was completely fed up with feeling watched, and living in fear, he decided to join the Combine Civil Authority after weeks of contemplation in order to hopefully gain a better standard of living.
