Well, I've arrived in the marvellous shitehole known as City 18 a few days ago, got an old typewriter repaired and set up, so, I guess there's no reason not to start writing a journal, diary, whatever the hell you want to call it, the least it'll do is pass the time, maybe I'll look back on this one day, if I ever get out of here, which doesn't seem likely considering I just arrived. I need to get somewhere to stay, this UCH place isn't the best accommodation I've ever been in, infact, it's probably the worst, the place is as dirty as fuck and the bed has cockroaches living in it, maybe I should try and get myself to that D2 place I've heard folks talking about, it seems a lot better there, maybe dirtier, but none of those Combine scum or those Loyalist ratbags there, I guess.
Well, nothing else has really happened here in the past few days, apart from some guy getting knocked out, which was a laugh, and a good way to pass a few minutes, so I'm going to stop now, and I guess I need to save the ink this type writer had on it.

Well, second entry this day, but something quite... weird happened earlier, a guy was going around, dropping letters off at apartments, I'm guessing they all said the same thing, it was something about a book club or something called "The Reds", I was curious, so I headed along, turns out there's about 10 other people there aswell, I stayed around for a few minutes, then decided to leave as nothing was happening.
So, I'm sitting in my apartment, a floor below this "book club" and then all of a sudden, I hear gunshots and a door getting knocked down; turns out the "Book Club" members were actually "Resistance" members or something, according to the CP Radio chatter I heard from upstairs.
Lucky me I guess, going away, staying out of trouble, anyways, nothing much else is happening, apart from this type writer falling apart, so I'm going to try and fix it up for the next few hours.

Well, I don't really know what I did, but it's working fine again, nothing much has happened, if you could say a big tripod thing about ten foot tall isn't that much.
I was taking a break from fixing that type writer when I see some big thing walking down the street, a big white coloured thing with what looked like green, fleshy armour all over it, and it was honestly one of the scariest fucking things I've ever seen.

I've managed to accomdate my self elsewhere, in a small garage near the train station, it's quite good, as it's probably the last place anyone would turn up and look, I managed to get all the gear across, and there's some old junk here I could sample with, mainly a few old pieces of car mechanic equipment and what appears to be a small car engine, but I think that's broken.
I disabled the shutter buttons from outside in quite a primative method, by breaking the electrics in it, so nobody nosy will be barging in anytime soon.

Great, so much for trying to make a small place to live without attracting attention.
I was minding my own business, when I hear some noise outside the shutters, some probably snooping around, so I ignore it at first, then I hear lots of knocks at the door, and it's going on for a good few minutes, so I open the door and some Civil Worker comes in looking for "contraband". After a few minutes of him poking about the garage, looking at my belongings, asking me lots of questions, he walks out again, going to kiss the arses of the Combine or whatever those Civil Workers do.
Well, I'm heading back to that UCH place, so I can stay somewhere, and try not to arouse suspicion, maybe try and head to that D2 place and figure away out of this town.
Well, I'm back at the apartments now, just need to find a way to D2, maybe I'll ask around, but you can't be too careful with the folks around here, so I might have to find it on my own.

I'm writing this in darkness right now, only aided by a cheap-o UU Flashlight, I'm going to have to explain everything when I get to the place, I only have one shot at this.
Okay. Time to explain what happened in the past few hours. From the beginning.
There was a a lightning storm earlier, and one of the lightning strikes hit a powerbox, destroying it, turns out it was the main source of power for the UCH, and well, all the lights blink out. For a few minutes I was disorientated like everyone else, but then I had an idea. In all the confusion, and not to mention darkness, I managed to escape the UCH, using a rooftop entrance I discovered earlier, now the good part is that the entrance leads to D2, so I had about, what, a 10 minute jog and I was in the slum area, so now, I'm actually inside an old room which appears to have been the gas mains a while ago, and I'm pretty much concealed from sight here, which is a good thing, now, I just need to find a way to get out of this City.

I've moved slightly, again, I'm still near the old gas room, I just climbed on over to a small piece of roof, it's a lot more concealed, there were some old crates there and a sofa, so that's a comfortable addition, and I've moved a few cardboard boxes into the alley below, as an alternate route out, although, it's a good few feet up here, and those cardboard boxes won't cushion a drop very much, well, I'm going to have a look around this D2 place, although carefully.

I suppose it's been a while since I last wrote in this but, a lot of people got relocated to City 8, as City 18 was too populated, I suppose it's a lot better in City 8, as there's much more places to stay in, I'm actually inside an old apartment right now, luckily the furniture was undisturbed by it's last occupents. I've had a look around, and at the bottom of these apartments, there's an exit to the subway, so I suppose that means there must be a way to the sewers, then a way outside the Cities.

Well, it took a good few weeks, but I managed to get out that City.
I had to spend days crawling through abandoned subways, sneaking around like a rat, then, I crawl through sewer pipes barely big enough for me, until I drop out in a storm drain type place, then it was, again, a few more days of trudging through pre-historic shit and sewage, I ended up in some canal type place, end up getting mugged, so I'm back in the canals, sitting in the dark, only aided by this flashlight. Well, it looks quite low on batteries so I'd better stop now.

I guess I taught  those damn muggers a lesson...
I was sitting in Beatle, manning the radio, when a few guys passed through, two of stopped for a drink and something to eat, and left again shortly, but the other one waited behind, then came up to me, asking for everything I've got. I just stared at him, he thought he was going to take all my money, I guess he didn't see the MP7 in hand.
Long story short, that sent him running.
Well, not much else is happening, and I'm at Easy just now, just watching everyone pass by, nothing strange has happened recently, except one of those "Vortigaunts" passed through here, stopping to eat his antlion... heh... Well, I-
The writing stops abruptly, and there is a small dot of ink where the page was last written on.

Got the MP7 from an IC friend, who happens to run one of the stations, I guard the station when no-one else is around, so I've got it for self defense, and yes, OTA are the guys( Some of them ) with the white armour and the red eye, although there are just the normal ones with the grey/blue armour.
