1. Rename your garrysmod folder (the one that has addons/models/materials/etc in it) to garrysmod_backup and then boot your game to let it create a fresh install without any addons whatsoever.Does it work? Great! Then now we know the problem is a corrupted model or material file somewhere. Let's pinpoint it down using the halving technique.Does it still not work? Then don't bother to read any further as I won't be able to help you, sorry.2. Choose one of the folders (so either models, or materials etc) from the garrysmod_backup folder and copy it over to the newly created garrysmod folder.Does the game work now?If yes, then the problem is in another folder. So repeat step 2 until the game doesn't work anymore. If no, then you now know the corrupted file is in the folder you last moved over.3. Open the folder with the corrupted file. Then select exactly half of the folders/files inside it and delete them. (No worries you still have them in your backup)Does it still not work? Repeat step 3 but with the left-over files. Remember the ones you deleted.Does it work again? Then the corrupted file is among the ones you deleted in step 3. So undo your deletion or recover the files from your backup then select half of the files you recovered and delete them again.Simply keep doing this by cutting your suspected files in half until you know exactly which file is corrupted.Found it? Delete it and optionally find a working replacement file on the internet. (By redownloading whatever addon it came from.)

The game has not booted up yet to download anything yet. It goes to the blue loading screen when you first boot it up but will crash before getting to the menu.Other games it will go to the menu and then crash when joining a server.

Or locate the accual error?
Put your computer specs here, maybe even the make/model of your comp. Operating system, CPU, GPU, and RAM.I'm sure your not the first person to have this issue.Don't hit your laptop...
Same issue was happening to a friend of mine and he fixed it by verifying TF2. Try that?
