Evan Patterson's Civil Authority Application

IC Character Name: Evan Patterson.

1) Please write a minimum of 3 paragraphs OOC'ly detailing why your character wishes to join the Combine Civil Authority and what lead your character to do so.
Evan Patterson wants to make a difference really bad. Robert has worked extremely hard as a loyalist. He works vigorously to better his reputation as a loyalist. Evan has been through many situations such as getting told off about his loyalist activities by other citizens, or even in some cases being attacked by them for his ideals. Evan believes the Combine are what are keeping the cities, and planet safe from the horrors of other alien worlds. He looks up to the Combine, and wants to do all that he can to help them.

Even though Evan generally wants to join the Combine Civil Authority to help others, Evan also wants the benefits of being an officer of City 45. He wants good food, a nice place to sleep, and the authority role he would be given. Evan in his younger years had always wanted to become a part of the military, that being denied by the Combine's invasion. He recently decided that joining the Civil Authority would solidify his standing with the Union.

Evan had been harassed by Civil Authority units in his past, but never took their attacks to heart. The Civil Authority are the reason that he is alive, and he wants to repay them. Evan think that his personality and actions make him a good cantidate for this position.  Evan has seen citizens trying to rebel against the Civil Authority. This instills a fear within him, making him think that is better to become a part of the 'good side'.

Evan has watched the officers of City 45 for several months, beginning to feel a longing to be like one of them. He has changed his whole lifestyle, just to be like them. Evan believes deeply in the Civil Authority's cause. He wants to make a difference, and believes that he has the drive to do it. He has the motivation. Evan is ready for the next step in his loyalty to the Universal Union.

2) Please detail your characters traits. (Eg, Pure, Lawful, Trustworthy)
Evan Patterson is a generally quiet man, he likes to stick in the corners away from people. Evan listens to orders quite well, and tends to not drift away from them after they are given. Evan has the common traits for OCD, something always has to be perfect in his eyes for it to be right. It is also hard for someone to trust him.

3) Please provide 2 paragraphs about what you are expecting the Combine Civil Authority to be like for you and your character.
I've had maaany Civil Protection characters on other servers, so I will have some form of basic understand, but as I've already noticed, things are actually quite different here at CG than at places I've been at in the past. I expect that I will have a completely different experience to what I have experienced in the past. I expect to meet other members of the community I have not spoken to so much, as I am still somewhat new around. I overall seeing CCA being a great experience.

I expect that in the CCA Evan will be properly trained to deal with the situations that the citizens of C45 bring about. I also expect that there will be plentiful roleplaying opportunities within the CCA, so that way, Evan and I will be able to enjoy these experiences whether they are short, or long. I also expect that the people training Evan will be hard on him, but fair, as they too were trained as he will be trained. The last thing I expect in the CCA is that I'm sure I will make many friends in character and Out of Character.

4) Please provide a detailed back-story from an out-of-character perspective on your applying character. This section must be detailed and consist of a minimum of 300 words.
After getting out of College Evan went to try and join the Marines, learning later that he had a curved, which had got him instantly denied. He took up odd jobs around town, while trying to find a more permanent job that would go along with his degree. After moving away to work at a Corporate office, he never saw his hometown again. The way he lived in his town, and the way he worked, was boring to him, and he had planned to move to Japan as soon as he had enough money. Finally, he had gotten enough money and was heading to the airport, plane ticket in hand. But that day that he would visit Japan would never finish, as it was the day the portal storms occurred.

Evan hurriedly told the taxi driver to get him back to town, which he did. Evan arrived back into his town, where he relaxed into his home. The moment he walked inside he saw the weirdest stories on the news. It was like veiwing 9/11 all over again, but much worse. At that time a small detachment of the National Guard moved into his town, and he was not permitted to leave, the resonance cascade had begun. While the outside world was infested with offworld parasites, Evan would seen find that his beloved military wouldn't be able to fend off the 'monsters' that had invaded.

His town was one of the first to go, everyone being detained and checked, anyone below 18 was killed, and everyone like Evan, who was 25 at the time, was packed on trains and shipped off. It was clear there was no hope for earth anymore.

He arrived at a new city, City 45, and found it hard to adjust to life there. He quickly found out that the people loyal to the Union  got better treatment,  and people in the CCA got even better treatment. Evan decided to go with the cause that would help him live a better life. Evan began by doing petty services for the CCA, wiping clean windows and walls. Until one day he heard a broadcast about an escaped Conscript. Evan investigated this, and found where the Vortigaunts had been hiding out. He relayed this information to local Civil Protection teams, earning himself 15 points. He had found his true calling finally.

5) Have you ever had a CCA character here at Catalyst Gaming?  If so, explain why it was removed.
Yes I have, I had went inactive for quite a while, and when I came back I found that my character was deleted. Now, this is the same application I used before, but I hope that is alright, because I'd like to use the same character.

Almost all of the time was enjoyable, and you had that sense of accomplishment after playing so long to get to that position. I most remember a time we captured a rebel, and I was the one designated to get information out of him.

I want to join the Combine Civil Authority because I want to help the Union in bigger ways than I already have tried to. Since our benefacts had come, I have always tried in anyway I can to be loyal, and help with whatever power I have. I now feel that is my duty to try and become one of the men and women in protection of our cities.

The issue with the CCA today is there are literally rules against playing to lose.

Write a detailed in-canon back-story how your character obtained these authorizations.
     Dougal Cullen, a down on his luck man in Edinburgh, Scotland, was done on his luck. No job, nearly homeless, and having no way to feed his family. Dougal walked down the street of his native Edinburgh, the section known as New Town to be exact. He shoved his hands in his pockets, letting out a deep sigh. He continued down the street, looking up towards the buildings around him, saying a silent prayer to the lord to give him better luck. Dougal looked to his left at that moment, noticing a poster in the window of a clinic he had been to once as a child. Dougal looked down the street, before lightly jogging to the clinic. He looked at the poster in the window, it reading, "HIRING INTERN". Dougal stared at the poster for a moment, thinking if that was something he would and could be able to do.

     Dougal realized it will be better to have this job than no other, and grabbed the door handle, opening it up quickly and stepping in. He rubbed his hands together, happy to be out of the cold winter air. He walked up to the front desk, giving the woman behind it a polite smile. The woman smiled back, waiting for him to speak. Dougal pointed a thumb over his shoulder, it pointing roughly towards the sign. "I'm eh, here for the job?". The woman looked at him for a moment before speaking, "Ever done anything medical-wise? Not that it'd be all too much a problem, could have someone else train ya'.". Dougal replied with a simple, "No, ma'am. Nothin' professional, just little fix ups when things aren't serious enough for a doctor.". The woman smiled again, giving Dougal an application sheet to fill out.

     Dougal filled out the sheet, handing it back to the woman. She said to wait until he recieves a call from them. Dougal went home feeling hopeful, God had answered his prayers. Within a few days, the clinic had called Dougal's one room apartment, saying that he had got the job. Dougal returned there the next day, wearing his nicest clothing, which was still quite shabby. Dougal was given some doctors scrubs, and shown basic knowledge that he would need to know when he was on his own, and no longer an intern. Dougal had worked there for two years, before the Portal storms began, which in turn caused the Seven Hour War, changing the Earth forever. Once Dougal was relocated into City 45, he wanted to re-establish and perform his trade.

    Dougal has now moved out in the 'slums' of District Six, which oddly, or somewhat like his old home. Dougal now recieves medical supplies from his 'contacts', protecting himself from anything malicious in the slums with his trusty 9mm pistol.

(I already have v flags for the supplies, and the pistol, I'm not asking for that, I just thought I should end the backstory with what he does now.)

What will these authorizations give your character in regards to perks or defects?
Perks
-Crude, and possibly dangerous medical tools. That could cause infections if not properly cleaned.
-Some actual medical tools, tweezers, spool of thread and a needle, etc. Nothing too big or important.
-Remedial medical knowledge. Quite basic medical knowledge, often times messing up in the process, but being able to know how to fix most things that are wrong with people.



Defects
-Becoming known to the D6 community, which in turn will causes Civil Protection awareness with my character, putting him at risk.
-Dirty tools, possibly hurting others if I do not properly RP washing/disinfectiong, etc.
-Medical Knowledge is not the greatest, causing for accidents occasionally, also known as medical malpractice.
-Bloody clothing. What a turn off!

What do you plan to do with these perks/defects?
I plan to use these authorizations to heal various wounds of people within District Six. Possibly to even make a name for my character within said District. Anything I could abuse with these authorizations, I won't.

Evan Patterson was a stubborn and quiet man from birth. Never really speaking to people, he never developed any long time friends. Evan had a strained relationship with his family, often getting into small fights with his parents. Evan grew up in central Illinois, in a small farming community of 10,000 people. He was always thinking about travelling abroad, joining the Marines to accomplish that goal.
